Coffee With Meredith

Meet Meredith Breitenbach, a mum of 2 (one on the way this month!), living in St Paul, Minnesota.

Tell us about yourself:

I’ve been married to Mike, the love of my life, for 3 years. We have a daughter who will be 2 in April, and are expecting our second (a boy!) in April as well! The #1 thing we’re passionate about is family time. We love being together, traveling as a family, and spending as much time outdoors as possible!
Tell us about your Motherhood journey so far
It’s been an AMAZING pregnancy, to be honest. My first, I was really sick and just nauseas ALLLLLL the time. This one has been great; I’ve only felt nauseas 2 days in the first trimester, and overall everything has just felt good. I don’t know if it’s because of the old wives tale that boys you don’t get sick and girls you do, or that life is just so chaotic with a toddler, a new job, moving, and life in general, that I just don’t have time to think about how I feel…but either way, I’ll take it! Although now that I’m 34 weeks I’m totally feeling the grind of the third trimester–can’t sleep, things hurt, etc.
What is your favourite:
Healthy food:
Berries of any kind! I like to make parfaits with granola and yoghurt, but I try to stay away from that too much because of the sugar in yoghurt.
Way to stay active:
Being active during pregnancy……..that’s been a struggle. I walk around at work a lot, but that’s about it. Active when I’m NOT pregnant–hiking!
Self love act:
A massage and a pedicure!
What advice would give all our moms out there?
Don’t try to be any other mom. Have your “mom idols” (friends or family members that you think are rockstar moms), but be yourself, trust your instincts (you have them, I PROMISE), and just love your kids. Don’t try to live up to someone else’s “mom standard”, especially if you’re on social media (who isn’t…?). Love yourself, love your spouse, love your kids, and keep on keeping on.
Are there any motherhood/health quotes that you love?
The days are long but the years are short. Someone told me this, and now I see it everywhere. It is SO true.
Any final words?
Being a mom is the most beautiful thing, but it doesn’t come without its woes. I worry more than I ever have, think about every single terrible situation that could happen, and stress over the smallest thing. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the whole world. Your kids are truly the greatest gift from God.
